Functional Skills Evaluation
An evaluation of an individual's readiness to live in a community-based setting.
The Functional Skills Evaluation is a required component of admission to join the Vista community. Prospective students are invited to spend five days and four nights at our Westbrook Campus to assess an applicant's skill level in a variety of areas while also providing the prospective student time to experience life at Vista. Applicants participate in an array of evaluations and assessments that occur in both structured and naturally occurring settings over the five-day period.
Evaluations are aimed at determining the applicant's functional skill level in:
- Cognitive and Social/Emotional Development
- Life Skills and Community Involvement
Upon completion of the Functional Skills Evaluation, an admission decision is made, and a detailed and comprehensive evaluation report is written.
