Crew Leader

The primary focus of the Crew Leader position in the Ventures program is oversight of quality controls for medical materials handling, merchandising, (filling and replacing magazines at local stores) and supporting students and members in their success.  You will have the opportunity to be crossed trained in other Ventures program services.  Must be detail oriented.

Principle Activities:

  • Be an excellent role model for students/members in the workplace so they can learn necessary work and social skills relevant to the work environment.
  • Provide consistent and quality support and training to student/member employees that support Vista’s mission as well as our services.
  • Maintain strong, professional, consistent and open communication with customers, vendors and other Vista professional staff in order to develop and maintain positive relationships.
  • Provide consistent and quality training to assigned work crews that supports Vista’s mission.
  • Manage and facilitate our business services and production operations as assigned. Ensure the work crews in these service areas run effectively and efficiently and meet the quality standards required by Ventures Program.
  • Ability to meet service timelines and handle stressful situations as they may arise with a calm and professional demeanor.
  • Act as a peer mentor in providing guidance and support to peers regarding the organization’s culture, mission, goals and their position’s specific responsibilities.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • HS Diploma with 1 year of related work experience in the fulfillment, and/ or merchandising areas preferred.
  • General business experience preferred.

Essential Requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s license and acceptable safe driving record as defined by Vista
  • Current Auto insurance on personal vehicle(s) that may be used for work.
  • CPR and First Aid or the ability to obtain certifications within 90 days of hire. (Vista will pay for training).
  • Pass pre-employment background checks, reference checks and drug screen.
  • Must be able to work in various interior and exterior work environments.
  • Must be able to model various job tasks including lifting up to 25 lbs., sitting, standing and walking for sustained periods of time.
  • Must be able to transport students/members in either a personal vehicle or Vista vehicles including mini vans.
  • Demonstrated ability to use a computer, software (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Etc.) internet and other electronic devices as deemed necessary for job function.    

This full-time position offers a Monday-Friday schedule; 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM and is located at the “Ventures facility”, next to our main campus in Madison; 111 Bradley Rd.

Director of Development

We are currently seeking a Director of Development with proven ability to oversee and lead development efforts for the organization in collaboration with respective executive leadership. 

The successful candidate must have good understanding and ability to articulate philosophy and message of Vista’s programs in creating and developing external relationships to expand financial support for the organization. 

Director of Development Responsibilities include:

·         Leads all development/fundraising initiatives including events, grants, campaigns, annual appeal, etc. 

·         Sits on and may act as liaison in related board committees.

·         Lead ongoing organizational events-related marketing

·         Seeks external funding sources to add to bottom line organizational initiatives. 

·         Holds direct responsibility for financial success in departmental budget as well as indirect success of all sectors within organization. 

·         Leads stakeholder identification, cultivation, utilization and ongoing relationships related to constituents of Vista.

·         Works with prospective funding sources and seeks new and innovative sources of funding to ensure ongoing financial success and support.

The successful candidate must train and lead all management staff through grant application and administration process to achieve annualized goals and diversify funding for organization.   

 

Director of Development Education and Experience Requirements:

·         Bachelor's degree with 5 years of related experience in donor development, communications/marketing, human service and/or business development.  Master’s Degree preferred.

·         Demonstrated ability to use computer and other electronic devices as deemed necessary for job function. 

·         Has no other outside professional responsibilities that would detract from the ability to lead the organization to its identified goals. 

·         Obtain specialized certifications, as needed by Vista organization to remain in compliance with state regulations.

·         Valid driver’s license, acceptable safe driving record, current auto insurance.

·         CPR and First Aid or the ability to obtain certifications within 90 days of hire.

Life Skills Instructor

We are currently seeking Part-time Life Skills Instructors.

The successful Life Skills Instructor candidates must be able to work in partnership with others to implement systems that support Vista student/member independent living needs. Candidates must be able to teach, evaluate, problem-solve and implement compensatory strategies. Successful candidates must be able and willing to work with students/members in a variety of settings, including within the Vista campus and the community.

The Life Skills Instructor will mainly be working within Vista student/member homes and throughout the shoreline towns in South-Central Connecticut. Life Skills services include household, time, food, medication and money management as well as self-care, community integration, health, safety, and companion services. The Life Skills Instructor must have a general knowledge of how to perform basic life skills-related tasks such as cooking, money management and cleaning.

Successful candidates must:

  • Role model good social skills, leadership skills, communication skills, conflict-resolution skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Provide consistent and quality instruction.
  • Train and teach students/members a variety of skills according to the individual needs.
  • Be able to make pertinent decisions and proactively problem solve issues that may arise.
  • Be flexible and able to respond to the needs of students/members.
  • Be willing and able to demonstrate any given support or instruction.
  • Be able to complete all written documentation in a clear, professional and timely manner.
  • Work autonomously, yet carry out creative solutions with the team.
  • Utilize technology, including computers, for instruction, communication and administrative purposes.
  • Effectively utilize a team approach with all staff to carry out the mission of the organization.

We offer a variety of flexible schedules.

Part-time schedules available between the hours of 7 AM - 8 PM.  Minimum commitment is 15-20 hours/week.

Program Counselor (Case Manager)

 

We are currently seeking a full time Program Counselor with strong case management skills and the proven ability to lead a team on behalf of individual clients in a positive and professional manner. The successful candidate must have knowledge of disabilities issues and sound counseling practices including family counseling and state and local resources.

Program Counselor Responsibilities include:

·         Developing written program plans, goal implementation and creating systems for assigned caseload.

·         Provide individual and family counseling and provide instruction in areas of social skills, cognitive development as well as money, medication and time management strategies.

·         Communicate students/member’s needs, issues and goals to all staff members and other parties involved. Work with students and members in developing natural supports in the community.

·         Maintain all case records as well as all necessary records and documentation.

 

The successful candidate must be extremely organized and able to deal effectively with unforeseen issues as they arise. He/she must be able to proactively problem solve and work with co-workers, families students/members and various funding sources in collaboration and a supportive professional manner.

Program Counselor Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree
  • At least 2 years of direct experience working with autism, neurological disabilities or special needs population
  • Ideal candidate will have excellent written, verbal and organizational skills
  • Counseling and coordination experience preferred- case management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of disability issues and goal development
  • Must have experience with special needs population and possess strong counseling and service coordination skills 
  • Must have proficient computer skills and experience in documentation

Program Instructor

The successful candidate for the Program Instructor position in our Discover program must be able to work in partnership with others to implement curriculum-based lessons using a variety of instructional methods, facilitate groups, evaluate and communicate student/member progress in functional skills, and implement systems that support Vista’s student/member independent living needs. The Discover Program Instructor must provide quality training while displaying a positive and professional demeanor.

It is expected that the Discover Program Instructor must be able to:

  • Follow Vista’s mission and demonstrate ethical and professional behavior and sound judgment that supports Vista’s services and programming to Vista students/members.
  • Work with students, members and co-workers, with willingness and flexibility that supports effective team function.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of disability issues and have general knowledge across core curriculum areas: social/cognitive, community and life skills.

In addition, the Discover Program Instructor must:

  • Work within a team setting to foster team communication and creative solutions.
  • Evaluate student/member progress and provide appropriate training interventions.
  • Have and utilize proficient computer skills for facilitating groups and/or individuals.
  • Follow/implement individualized strategies to help the student gain independence in life skills, community integration, and social/cognitive areas.
  • Use identified assistive technology to help students with gaining independence.
  • Be an excellent role model for students so they can learn the necessary social skills in any given environment.
  • Develop a rapport with students so they feel comfortable in their learning environment.
  • Develop relationships with families by attending assigned meetings/events so families report a level of satisfaction with program instruction.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills and strong organization skills.
  • Be flexible and adaptable in terms of scheduling.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Associates Degree in a related field OR a High School Diploma plus 1 year of related experience
  • All positions require a valid driver's license, with an acceptable safe driving record and current auto insurance.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen, background checks, and references.
  • May be required to obtain a public service license.
  • Transport students/members in personal and Vista-owned vehicles.

Student Support Professional

We are currently seeking part-time Student Support Professional at our Westbrook Campus for the available shifts: 

Part Time Position 1

Monday – 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM

Friday – 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Total – 16.5 hours/week

Part Time Position 2

Saturday; 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Sunday; 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Monday; 3:30 PM - 9:30 PM

Total - 22 hours/week
