Conclusion to Community & Human Connection Core Value Series

Several years ago, Vista created a set of nine Core Values that describe what is important to us as we work to impact the lives of individuals with disabilities and the broader community. For 2022, we have chosen to focus our blog series on these Core Values - telling the story of our students and members and our organization through this important and powerful lens.

June Core Value Highlight: COMMUNITY & HUMAN CONNECTION

Our year of highlighting the Vista Core Values continued in June as we turned our attention to Community & Human Connection. Every day, Vista programming and activities help students and members grow and connect by implementing this core value.

Vista activities that foster the Core Value of Community & Human Connection

As students and members practice Community & Human Connection, they develop strong bonds with their peers and the community.

Vista student Maddie found that the shared experience of doing a presentation with her peers for a local school made it easy to strike up a conversation when she encountered audience members out in the community.

Vista's partnership with the Valley Shore YMCA fosters relationships between our students and the Y Be Fit instructors; this rapport continues as Engage Program members participate in their other fitness programs and interact with other Y members.

During A Shared Stage Productions musicals, connections made during rehearsals and performances leave an impression on the hearts of our students and members and the participating community members.

We are grateful to know that these connections encourage students to socialize, share, and learn new and exciting ways to interact with others.

Our focus in July and August will shift to the next featured Core Value: Leadership.

More to come!
