Conclusion to Accountability Core Value Series

Several years ago, Vista created a set of nine Core Values that describe what is important to us as we work to impact the lives of individuals with disabilities and the broader community. For 2022, we have chosen to focus our blog series on these Core Values - telling the story of our students and members and our organization through this important and powerful lens.

September Core Value Highlight: ACCOUNTABILITY

Over this past month, we have seen how the Vista community truly takes accountability for their actions. Whether it be caring for their pets, planning for their future, checking the tire pressure on their bikes, or tending to the garden students and members of the Vista community continue to bring the true essence of the core value, Accountability to life.

The attention students and members give to animals is heartwarming to see. This goes to show that the human-animal bond is an immersive experience that requires nothing less than full commitment to the responsibility for the well-being of other living beings.

Vista's Rotaract Club members tending to the garden

Vista’s Rotaract Club has set a great example by successfully cultivating a garden and providing fresh vegetables for community meals. By getting their hands dirty, students and members of the Club have been able to experience the satisfaction of accountability in real-time.

Members of the Vista Bike Club

Vista’s Bike Club has proven that accountability is an essential attribute to the success of a team. By working together during group rides, members of the Club are taking responsibility for their performance in the upcoming Tour de Shore cycling event.

Lastly, accountability for our future selves is something that everyone should consider. Students and members have done an outstanding job at setting themselves up for future success by utilizing the resources available to them.

We enjoyed having the opportunity to share an inside look at the intentional contributions students and members are making to the community by embracing the core value of Accountability. It is clear to see that, in each corner of the Vista Community Accountability is a core value that has been widely adopted by the daily actions of the students and members.

More to come!
