Meet the Class of 2022: Chris McDonald

August Core Value Highlight: LEADERSHIP

At Vista, we seek to inspire through leading by example. Graduation exemplifies the Core Value of Leadership by acknowledging and celebrating the independence and success of our students. We are thrilled to introduce six Vista students who have reached a significant milestone this year...Vista's Class of 2022!

We hope you enjoy learning more about these special young men and women!

Chris McDonald, Class of 2022

We’re pleased to introduce you to our next Vista graduate, Chris McDonald. He grew up in Scarsdale, NY., and started the Discover Program in 2020. Chris currently lives in an apartment and is preparing to live independently in the greater shoreline community after graduating. Chris recently spoke with us about his Vista journey to graduation.

What are some of the goals you worked towards during your time in the Discover Program?

I worked on developing systems to keep myself organized, tools to communicate effectively with others, and how to manage my finances. I am happy to say that these skills have made me more self-sufficient and prepared me for my next chapter in the Engage Program. I'm excited to live independently with my peers and make my own decisions.

What achievements are you the proudest of?

I assemble medical trays that medical professionals use to save lives at Yale New Haven Hospital locations. Although this is a detail-orientated process, I am proud of myself for being able to assemble every tray with minimal error. I am also proud of myself for making close friends, some of whom I live with now.

Chris with other Vista Rotaract Club members and community partners

Can you share an example of a time you feel you displayed Leadership?

I joined The Rotaract Club last year as one of the first members and helped with creating a new community garden. Joining the club has given me numerous opportunities to not only enjoy nature but also to give back to the community alongside my peers.

What are your hobbies and interests?

I enjoy riding horses along the Connecticut Shoreline, scuba diving, and creating my own music.

What do you think you are best known for?

I am known for working well independently, but if anyone ever needs help, I am always there to assist them.

What’s your favorite color? Favorite food?

Color: red or black. Food: baked ziti.

We hope you enjoyed getting to know Chris. Next week, we’ll introduce you to another graduate from the Vista Class of 2022!
