Meet the Class of 2022: Henry Fischer

July/August Core Value Highlight: LEADERSHIP

At Vista, we seek to inspire through leading by example. Graduation exemplifies the Core Value of Leadership by acknowledging and celebrating the independence and success of our students. We are thrilled to introduce six Vista students who have reached a significant milestone this year...Vista's Class of 2022!

We hope you enjoy learning more about these special young men and women!

Henry Fischer, Class of 2022

We’re pleased to introduce you to our next Vista graduate, Henry Fischer. Henry grew up in Nanuet, New York and started the Discover Program in 2020. He currently lives along the Connecticut Shoreline on Settlers Campus. Henry recently spoke with us about his Vista journey to graduation.

What are some of the goals you worked towards during your time in the Discover Program?

My goals were to independently take the bus and find a job within the community. Both skills have given me the opportunity to gain freedom in my day-to-day life.

What achievements are you the proudest of?

I am proud of myself for making the move out of residence living and into Settlers. By making this change I have gained a sense of independence and responsibility.

Can you share an example of a time you feel you displayed Leadership?

Health and fitness are important aspects of my life. I display this in my leadership style by prioritizing health-focused activities. For instance, I work out weekly at my local YMCA with my friend Tyler. It's something I really enjoy and can share with others.

What are your hobbies and interests?

I genuinely enjoy building structures with Legos, creating art pieces, taking bike rides, and going to the beach.

What do you think you are best known for?

I am best known for treating my peers with the respect that they deserve and for my handsome smile.

What’s your favorite color? Favorite food?

Color: green. Food: meatball or chicken parmigiana grinder, from Hartford Giant Grinder...where I currently work.

We hope you enjoyed getting to know Henry. Next week, we’ll introduce you to another graduate from the Vista Class of 2022!
