Life Skills Instructor
Life Skills Instructors at Vista Life Innovations (Vista) play a vital role in empowering individuals with disabilities to achieve greater independence and personal growth. They provide individualized and small-group instruction to help members organize, manage, and follow through on their daily living responsibilities across specialized areas, including:
- Self-Care: Hygiene and grooming, dressing for the environment, medication management, health management, and responding to emergency situations
- Nutrition Concepts: Meal planning, nutrition awareness, grocery shopping, coordinating with a grocery delivery service, meal preparation, cooking, food storage, mealtime tasks and etiquette
- Household Management: Organizing and maintaining living space, general household maintenance, home safety, managing relationships within the household
- Money Management: Money handling skills, managing bank accounts, bill paying, budgeting
- Time Management: Understanding of time concepts, scheduling, and organizing of time
- Transportation: Personal safety and travel training in areas such as traveling by foot, public transportation, or coordination/support of Vista ride sign-ups
- Community Involvement: Awareness and accessing community resources, and community safety
