About Ed Riley
Ed Riley’s life reflects a deep commitment to faith, family, and community. Born and raised in Quincy, Massachusetts, as the youngest of six children, Ed grew up in a household shaped by hard work and service. His father owned a local gas station, and all four grandparents were Irish immigrants who instilled strong values of responsibility, generosity, and gratitude. Central to his upbringing was a guiding principle from the Gospel of Luke: “to whom much is given, much is required.”
After graduating from Archbishop Williams High School and earning his degree from Vanderbilt University, Ed embarked on a successful career in financial services. For the past 30 years, he has served as a Financial Advisor with Wells Fargo Advisors. His professional journey took him across the country—Kansas City, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Massachusetts—before he ultimately settled in Madison, Connecticut more than three decades ago.
In Madison, Ed found not only a home, but a calling. He immersed himself in civic life, serving as Past President of the Madison Jaycees and helping organize enduring community events such as the Madison Turkey Trot and the Madison Triathlon, held in memory of a dear friend. Known for his ability to rally others, Ed regularly engaged high school athletic teams, local businesses, and volunteers to contribute their time and energy—creating events that strengthened community bonds.
Ed’s connection to Vista Life Innovations began in 2014 when he was asked to assist with the Tour de Shore cycling event. True to his collaborative spirit, Ed recruited friends and colleagues—many from Wells Fargo—to ride, volunteer, and support the cause. His involvement deepened when he joined Vista’s Board of Directors ten years ago.
During his tenure, Ed has served on multiple Board subcommittees and working groups, including Finance, Business Development, the Ventures Workgroup, and the Government Relations Taskforce. Through these roles, he has helped strengthen Vista’s financial stewardship, expand strategic partnerships, advance fundraising initiatives, and support innovative program growth. His steady leadership and thoughtful perspective continue to contribute to Vista’s long-term sustainability and impact.
What inspires Ed most about Vista is witnessing members grow in confidence, skill, and independence. He is especially moved by Vista’s annual Graduation Ceremony—a powerful reminder of the perseverance and achievement that define the Vista community.
Ed and his partner Johanna share six grandchildren who bring immense joy to their lives. His daughters, Meghan and Erin, along with their husbands Patrick and Matt, continue the family’s legacy of love and community.
Whether on the tennis court, golf course, or serving on local committees, Ed remains committed to fostering connection and strengthening the community he calls home.
Vista is honored to recognize Ed Riley for his leadership, generosity, and dedication to advancing independence, belonging, and opportunity for all.
